The Cult of Leif Everything Leif M. Wright

Music

I'm the guy in the middle.

I'm the guy in the middle.

This is where some of my music is. I have a ton of songs, but don't have a lot of them recorded. These recordings are awful, and I'm going to completely re-do them, but I thought I'd put them here so my cult can get used to singing them. Lyrics and music on all songs by me.

Experience teaches me these are all best listened to with headphones.

Just Let Go

This song has gone through a ton of remixes, and I'm still very unsatisfied with it. The song is good, the mix here is horrible. But as a cult member, you must listen to it. Memorize it. There will be a quiz.
Leif Wright: Rhythm and lead guitar, Acoustic guitar, Lead and harmony vocals, Bass guitar.
Phil Sapienza: Drums
Jerry Owens: Lead guitar
Gene Longcrier: Bass guitar

Room With a View

This song also has a lot of problems, but I finally settled on a bass guitar part that comes close to what I want. The bass guitar is the lead instrument in this song, so it's important. Also, I think the acoustic guitar is kind of out of tune in this recording.
Leif Wright: Acoustic guitar, Bass guitar, Lead and harmony vocals
Phil Sapienza: Drums

Little Cutie

The mix on this song sucks. It's OK with headphones that have good bass in them, but if you don't have those, it just sounds like a porn background song.
Leif Wright: Lead and rhythm guitar, bass guitar, lead vocals
Phil Sapienza: Drums, harmony vocals

Sweet Goodbye

This is one of my least-favorite of my songs. But MFP™'s son loves this song, so it stays. This is basically a live recording of me playing guitar and singing with the keyboards and harmony vocals added later.
Leif Wright: Acoustic guitar, keyboards, lead and harmony vocals

Blame the Beer

This was me, kind of drunk, writing a goofy song. It's kind of catchy, though, so I like it.
Leif Wright: Guitar, vocal

I See Her Soul

People either hate this song or they love it. Flip a coin for me on a given day and I'll tell you which side I fall on. My sister tells me this song has developed quite a following among 13-year-old girls who hang out with my niece. Now if we could just get them to PAY.
This is another live recording of me with a guitar. I added harmony vocals later.
Leif Wright: 12-string guitar, lead and harmony vocals.

The La La Song

This song grew out of a random line I couldn't get out of my head: "She was 21 when she finally got past the pain." It seemed enigmatic enough to me to build an interesting story around. This song was recorded using my iPhone as a 4-track, which means guitar and both vocals were recorded over my iPhone's microphone, so the quality is low-ish, but I like the groove.
Leif Wright: Guitar, lead and harmony vocals

As Is

(Live acoustic performance)
I played the first guitar riff to this song a couple of days ago and MFP™'s son went, "As Is!" This is one of my favorite songs. This is a live performance recording from 2007, so it's kind of ganky.
Leif Wright: Acoustic guitar, lead vocals
Phil Sapienza: Drums
Jerry Owens: Lead guitar
Terry Walkingstick: Bass guitar

Was I Am

Isn't technology amazing? I recorded this song sitting on my bed using my iPhone as a 4-track recorder and its microphone as the microphone. And that's all. This song is about how fundamentalists treated me when they discovered that I was no longer one of them. Lyrically, this is one of my favorite of my songs.
Leif Wright: Guitar, lead and harmony vocals

Two Birds

The only recording on which you can hear me play drums. I recorded this in 2005 using an acoustic guitar for the lead parts, which is why it sounds like I'm really playing hard — because I am.
Leif Wright: Lead and rhythm guitars, bass guitar, drums, shaker, lead and background vocals

7

Definitely a work in progress. The guitars and singing are very messy and poorly mixed on this one. I was trying to see how much I could record in seven minutes, keying on the name of this song, so there were no do-overs and I rushed everything a bit. I like the rhythmic dissonance between the guitars and then the combo of the guitars and the vocals on this song.
Leif Wright: Guitars, vocals

I have a BUNCH more songs. I'll upload them when I get the patience to.

Pressing On

(Bob Dylan)
By request, I'm putting "Pressing On" here.
This isn't my song; it was written by Bob Dylan, and this is my own take on it. This was recorded at my church on Oct. 26, 2008. This was the first time any of the other guys had ever heard this song, much less played it, and I think they did a great job.
Leif Wright: Lead guitar (I miss that Firebird), lead vocals
Ray Walsh: Drums
James Buell: Very quiet acoustic guitar
Gene Longcrier: Bass guitar, harmony vocals
Clint Burris: Keyboards, harmony vocals

  1. Even the background music in a porn has merit.

  2. Just snagged “Pressing On” for my sister. I’m suppose to put it on a CD and give it to her for Christmas. Wow, is she easy to please. Thanks big crappy floating ineffable head Leif.
